This “Hedgie” is my nineteenth annual holiday design. These hand blown glass ornaments have a textural component to them, simulating the animal’s protective quills. These quills are not particularly sharp, and in fact, Hedgehogs are more closely related to insectivores, like moles and shrews, than to porcupines. They get their name from their preferred habitat of garden hedges in Europe, and the pig- like grunts they make.
